About the Wine: Syrah can take many forms; it is most famously grown & produced in the Rhône Valley of France, often as a Hermitage or Côte-Rôtie, but also is identified and loved as Shiraz in Australia. Our take on Syrah is with fruit from Reynoso Vineyard, one of our favorite vineyards in Sonoma County. Located in the Alexander Valley in northeastern Sonoma County, we’ve been sourcing fruit from this family owned vineyard since 2005. After pressing, the wines were aged for 20 months in 30% American Oak and 70% once used French Oak. American Oak in general imparts a more obvious, strong & sweeter aromas/flavors, so we only use it on our Syrahs & Petite Sirahs.
Tasting Notes: Experience delicious aromas of ripe black & red fruits such as blackberry and raspberry. Secondary notes of plum, smoked bacon and pepper. Smooth palate with medium to heavy lush tannins.
Food Pairing: With firm tannins, this wine is a great pairing with a delicious, flavoral blue cheese, such as the Fior d'Arancio. This specific blue cheese is bathed in a sweet wine that complements the Syrah.
