About the Wine: With soils similar to Bordeaux, the Alexander Valley is producing some of the world’s best Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. We have been lucky enough to source from the Reynoso Vineyard for many years, so we are excited to continue the tradition and produce another great vintage. The 2019 wine harvest started about 2 weeks later than normal due to a wetter winter. With the extended cool growing season, grapes ripened at lower sugar levels which many vintners celebrated as this meant the fruit was full of flavor, fresh acidity & superb balance. Once the fruit arrived in Oceanside, we destemmed and processed it here on site. The grapes then cofermented with 2% Petit Verdot to add another layer of complexity, color & tannin. After pressing, the wine was aged for 22 months in 20% new and 80% once used French Oak before being bottled in September 2021.
Tasting Notes: Explore notes of dark stewed fruit, cherry & violet with secondary notes of baking spices & toasted bread. Enjoy the pronounced tannins that linger on the palate.
Food Pairings: Enjoy this wine with our Cheese of the Month from the Wine Garden Cheese Shop: St. Stephen by Four Fat Fowl with earthy & nutty undertones. For something sweet, pair with Jackies Raspberry Jam!
